Mr. Alexander Avdeyev appointed the CEO acting of AeroSvit Airlines02.06.2010 | 16:55
Mr. Alexander Avdeyev, who previously occupied the position of the deputy chief of Ukraine’s State Aviation Authority, and prior to that had a 12 years-long track record with AeroSvit, was appointed acting Director General of AeroSvit – Ukrainian Airlines.
Pursuant to the decision made by the airline’s Supervisory Board, Mr. A. Avdeyev took the office on June 1st, 2010. At the same time, Supervisory Board relieved Mr Yevgeniy Treskunov of his duties as acting Director General due to expiration of the employment contract with him. Members of the Supervisory Board extended their appreciation to Mr. Treskunov for his work as the Airline’s CEO and entrusted him with coordination of strategic development issues of the Ukrainian Aviation Group strategic alliance in the position of a the advisor to Supervisory board's Co-chairman. Supervisory board identified the priority objectives of the airline’s operating performance: enhancement of safety measures as well as flights regularity in the context of route network development and increasing scope of carriages, improvement of AeroSvit Airline’s fleet operating efficiency. In this connection, in Supervisory board members’ opinion, taking into account Alexander Avdeyev’s background and experience in the area of aviation maintenance and engineering support, his candidature is optimum for the Airline’s CEO position. Alexander Avdeyev is 53 y.o. After graduation from Kiev Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers in 1980 (qualified as aircraft and engines operation mechanic engineer), he worked at different enterprises of aviation industry. From 1996 till 2008 he worked for AeroSvit Airlines, in particular, occupying the position of Deputy Director General for Maintenance and Engineering from 2000 till January 2008. In January 2008 Mr. Avdeyev commenced his service at State Aviation Authority of Ukraine’s Ministry for Transport and Communications. In August 2008 he was appointed chief of Division for European integration and general issues of aircraft operation. From January 2009 till May 2010 occupied the position of deputy chief of Ukraine’s State aviation authority. AeroSvit – Ukrainian Airlines, established in 1994 году, is nowadays operating the largest network (among Ukrainian carriers) of regular international flights. In 2010 summer navigation period AeroSvit is operating over 50 regular international air lines, including 5 transcontinental destinations to Beijing, New York, Toronto, Delhi and Bangkok. The Airline also provides passenger carriages to the largest administrative centers of Ukraine – Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankovsk, Lugansk, Lvov, Odessa, Simferopol, Kharkov, Chernovtsy and Uzhgorod. Starting from the beginning of 2010 summer season AeroSvit resumed operation of all the flights suspended for the winter period, and also commenced operation of several new routes. In particular, the Airline provides carriages on its own flights to Kishineu, Bucharest, Vilnius and Riga, extended its international destinations network from different regions of Ukraine, and substantially increased flight frequencies for the existing routes. As a result, in the summer season peak, the number of connections at Boryspil airport between all destinations of Aerosvit Airlines’ updated route network will grow by 35% compared to last year’s summer season, and transit passenger traffic through Ukraine’s largest airport will increase by 30%. The Airline’s fleet is constituted by 13 medium-haul Boeing 737 aircraft and 3 long-haul Boeing 767’s. Besides that, jointly with other Ukrainian carriers - AeroSvit airlines’ partners - Airbus 320, Embraer 145, Embraer 195 and Аntonov-148 aircraft are operated on several routes. AeroSvit Airline was founded as a closed joint-stock company. After recent changes of stock holders, which took place in 2009 1st quarter, 38% of the Airlines’ shares are owned by Gilward Investments B.V. (the Netherlands), 22.4% belong to Ukraine’s State property fund, Genaviainvest, Investment Advisors Group and Byuro companies control 24,99%, 9,8% and 4.8% respectively. See also
